| 1978 | - The Japan Association for the Promotion
of English for Children (JAPEC) is established. Director: Shunji Terachi -Tadahisa Goto (Emeritus Professor of Osaka University) become for the first chairperson - Specialized journal "English Education for Children" is launched. - An English song collection "Sing for Joy" is published. |
| 1979 | - Ten teachers specializing in English education
for children are invited from the UK. - The 1st JAPEC English Proficiency Test for Children is administered. |
| 1980 | - Japan Association for the Study of Teaching
